Welcome to the Taskforce Uplift Community!

We are pleased to share the unveiling of our new nonprofit startup, Taskforce Uplift! The team has been working hard over the past year to build the initial framing for the organization, establish ourselves as a 501(c)(3) and get our official website launched. Well, today is that day! Like any other nonprofit, Taskforce Uplift will rely on the generosity of private and corporate donors, fundraising activities, and most important of all, strategic partnerships with Veteran Service Organizations and youth-oriented nonprofits to grow our initial programs consisting of mentorship, providing underserved children of our Veterans with connected technology, and technical training. With finite resources available, our goal is to leverage these partnerships to build synergy and strengthen the impact that we as a collective will have on our communities.

As a young boy from a working-class family, I was filled with energy, lacked direction, and a positive role model to help me find it. I found myself jumping from school to school as my Air Force Veteran parents worked hard to make ends meet. Branded as the funny troublemaker, teachers would say time and again “He has so much potential, if he could just focus and be like the other kids.”

In hindsight, both of my parents were also raised in working class families where both fathers served in the Army during World War ll. They served their country and crossed over the bridge to become veterans with little more than what they went in with, save for 3 young children.  They had to reacclimate and find a way to make ends meet. For my part, I did what I needed to do to graduate high school and followed in their footsteps to serve in the Armed Forces. I joined the Army without a nickel to my name, crossed over the bridge to become a veteran, and the preordained cycle was set to continue. The grind awaited.

Fortunately, that was not the end of the story for me. Reflecting on my personal journey, I was never alone. Like checkpoints on a land navigation course, along the way there were role models that came into my life that saw potential, were patient, shared their knowledge, and served as inflection points bringing insight necessary to make informed decisions. From the man that helped me get my first job, to my girlfriend’s father while serving, to my uncle, and the numerous mentors encountered during my professional life. These special souls, along with countless others, uplifted my personal trajectory and provided a roadmap for Taskforce Uplift to follow. This roadmap represents the north star of services that will open new doors, level the playing field for the underserved, equip, and empower the youth of our veterans with perspectives that will luminate the opportunities that await.

We are excited to begin this journey, and happy you have chosen to come along.
